Setup
- Locate
the Netscape Communicator icon. Double click it.
- Once
Netscape has opened, click on the Edit menu at the top of the screen.
Select the Preferences option.
- On
the left hand side of the window that opens, click on the plus next
to Mail & Newsgroups. Click on Mail Servers. On the right hand side,
click Add.
- Enter
this information in the window that appears:
- Server:
mail.anet.net
- Server
type: POP3 Server
- Username:
The username is the one provided to you when you set up your
account.
- Click
OK.
- In
the center of the window, fill out the SMTP server and username
with the following information:
- Outgoing
mail: mail.anet.net
- Outgoing
mail server username: The username will be the same as the one
used for incoming mail
- Click
OK.
- When
you next check mail, you will be presented with a password dialog
box. If you have the "Remember Password" option selected (see 4),
then this will be the only time that you are prompted for this information.
Outlook Express Mail Setup
- Locate
the Outlook Express or Outlook icon. Double-click it.
- Once
Outlook Express has opened, click on the Tools menu at the top of
the screen. Select the Accounts option.
- Select
the Mail tab at the top of the form. Click the Add button on the
right, then choose Mail from the dropdown that appears.
- A
wizard will engage to walk you through the settings. Enter the your
name as you would like it to appear, and then hit Next. Next, click
the radio button stating that you already have an e-mail address,
then enter your e-mail address, and hit Next again. On the next
screen, select POP3 from the dropdown at the top of the window,
then type "mail.anet.net" and "mail.anet.net" in the next two blanks,
respectively. Finally, type in your account name and password in
the appropriate blanks, and hit Next one more time. Be sure to check
the "remember my password" checkbox. A congratulations screen will
appear. Click Finish.
- There
will now be a aNet entry listed under the Mail tab. Highlight the
aNet entry by clicking it, then press Properties.
- The
General tab contains settings that only affect the appearance of
outgoing messages. Enter in your name and email address. Click on
the Servers tab.
- Check
that the mail servers are properly entered, then place a check mark
in the box for "My server requires authentication". Click the Settings
button.
- Select
the "Log on using" radio button, then enter your Account Name and
password again. Click OK. Click OK once more, then hit Close.
You
will need to restart Outlook in order for all account changes to take
effect.
